Hi,

Thanks to a fellow member who sent me the link to this site. I bought a 2002 Wagon for $15,200 in eastern Massachusetts. I live in West Springfield (Westside) Massachusetts.

I did not receive any records with the car, however the carfax check indicated the following items

11/19/02 VAS system checked , headlight switch replaced, electrical system serviced, engine/powertrain computer/module checked

I did notice that the left two tailpipes seemed at a diffrent distance from the bumper than the right ones. Not sure why, but the exhuast seems to work fine.

Here are pics from the ebay ad.

Any tips are welcome. Was quoted 2,200 for a 3/36 extended warranty , seems a little steep.

After reading a few posts It seems the 2002 is more prone to repairs, or is this incorrect?

Thanks again for providing a forum to communicate with other owners

My 2004 variant has the same problem. In my case it's just from bottoming out in a friend's driveway.

Congrats on the new car!

Congrats on the car, and welcome to the club!

I wouldn't be too worried about issues specific to a 2002. Yes, there were some teething problems, notably the Tiptronic (make sure any applicable recalls have been done on your car), but nothing really changed on the later cars.

The only caveat would be that the 2002s are obviously older and, in general, would be higher mileage with more everyday wear-and-tear.

Thanks for the welcome

I am glad to hear the 2002 is okay, other than the revcall issues.

Just curious what is the highest mileage anyone has heard of. I have only 57,000 and look foward to 200,000.

Hi WestsideW8, welcome to the forum!

I find myself paying much more attention to driveways, and parking blocks, these days.

My baby is a 2002 and I have 67,600 miles. I do have a o-ring leak in my tranny but that's covered under my warranty. Other than that, she's treated me well! =)

I've seen a W8 on autotrader that was pushing 97,000+ miles.
Carfax showed my car in for electrical service early in its life as well (6/2002 build).
