Clipped something with my mirror and now it does not fold everything else works fine just no power folding any ideas where i can get a new motor besides 380 bucks at the dealer?

it's shared with the GLX passat too, so there should be some in junkyards, or possible a GLX part out on passatworld.

I don't know how the folding mirror mechanism works... how do you know it's the motor as opposed to a broken cable or bent arm or something else?

Motor went on my passenger one. Makes a really loud grinding noise. I have a different pair of mirror's but have yet to fit them.

Cost seems very high. You should be able to get it cheaper than that as I know Lucas make them as a non VW part.

Try www.car-part.com - it's THE nationwide junkyard network. The motor you need is in the mirror housing. Our memory mirrors are a listed item, and go for between $35 and $270... I've had good experience buying parts from lowball junkyards before.
