My antenna stalk needs replacement. I beleive since I have a navi and Onstar that it is different than the standard Fuba antenna. Anyone know?

I think the MAST part of the Antenna's are the same. I want a new Antenna too, all the black rubber around mine is gone.

I replaced my OEM antenna with a stubby Sharon antenna (from Hillside Imports). As I recall, they asked whether my car has Onstar or not - apparently the threads that screw the antenna into the base are slightly different between the Onstar base and the standard antenna base.

I love the look of the stubby antenna at least on my wagon.

Don't you have a copy of ETKA, Tom? I didn't think there was a difference in the mast alone, but as indicated above... perhaps there is, and ETKA is probably the best place to find out.

Or park beside another VW in a parking lot and do an icognito swap test...

ETKA was very dificult to figure out as there are many different choices, like armored vs non-armored. If you have OnStar the correct part number is 1J0-035-849-F. The screw on the bottom is larger than regular Passats so make sure you get the right one. List price is $61 and Fixmy59bug sells them for $45 on PW.

Here are a few pics of the Sharan antenna on my variant. The price was about the same so I decided to try the stubby one hoping that it wouldn't disintegrate like the original one.

Anyway, I like the looks of it and haven't had any issue with a lower radio signal that some people complain about when going to the shorter antenna.

the W8 has the radio antenna in the rear window glass. All other passats actually use the antenna. If you have onstar, then your antenna works for that, however, I believe the fm/am antenna is in the rear window glass still

I use an s2000 antenna with no radio degradation

I too, use the s2000 version.
Sedans have the "diversity antenna" in the rear window - wagons have it in the rear side windows.
I also did metallic tint in my rear window without ill effects on reception, which was a minor concern.
I usually just listen to the engine anyway!

Remove the antenna, check your radio reception, and get back to us.

For quite a while I didn't have my antenna installed. I noticed no difference whatsoever.
