Topic: Spring W8 GTG for MN/WI/IA? Posted: 04-Feb-2007 at 18:02 |
I know we have a few folks in the general area.
Stymie and I are in MSP area, FirestarterGER is moving to western WI sometime soon, and we have Jamvan (from PW) out in St. Cloud, and IndyW8 visits the Twin Cities from time to time. Two Jeremys from IA.
Any interest in getting together after the spring thaw?
Give people a chance to meet, hang out, take a nice drive.
It would be nice too see 5 to 8 W8s all in one place at one time.

I'm down like a clown Charlie Brown! =)
I predict some PW envy after a good photoshoot...

Hey Stewart, count me in. I do have to find some funding for ECM equipment though.

That would make one sweet desktop wallpaper!! =)
So how many do we have so far Stu? Do you have an idea of where/when we are going to meet that will be a fair commute for everyone?

I recently purchased my 2003 W8 wagon and I'm located in Omaha, NE. I would be up for a GTG in the Twin Cities area. I'm interested in getting the GIAC flash done but it would be nice to see firsthand what the differences are. I have a Silverstone wagon with tip and the sport package wheels. I'm not sure what I will do to it yet, but I was thinking about the GIAC flash and possibly a new head unit. I have already integrated XM into the changer port on my factory head unit but I would be interested in hearing what a new head unit would sound like. This is my fifth VW and I also have an Audi A4 Avant that is fairly modded with engine and suspension parts. I have included a picture of the car from the dealer ad. It has been messy every day around here for the past two weeks so I haven't taken any of my own pictures.
Also a picture of my Avant.

Nice stable of wagons!
As far as planning goes, I haven't done much yet.
I'll try to be fair to all - figure out who's going to show, and try to pick a place that isn't way too far for any one person to drive.

Hey Stewart, how about meeting somewhere in the general area - SE Minnesota/NE Iowa/SW Wisconsin? Roughly where the three states meet. I'm thinkin' it'll make it a little easier for Vincere coming from Omaha, and FirestarterGER coming from Somerset? Hayward? Western Wi. anyway. Yes, a little bit longer for Jamvan, but at 132mph it shouldn't take him too long to get there.
There is some pretty country down in that part of the world, with some nice, hilly, windy roads. As an added bonus, the population density is fairly low.
