S4 has paddles and a tip, not a DSG

but I'm not sure how you use the paddles, I was just in my buddies car with tip and paddles

Phaetons (and T-regs) supposedly are ready to accept paddle shifters, as the wiring is there.
No such luck on the Passat I guess.

Garfield, I have found a solution to the Tiptronic blues, unfortunately it involves those nasty , or in my case, $ symbols. I wish you success in your quest for the sport mode.

I just checked my transmission and the soft code was 01102. I changed it to 01112 and the result was much closer to the sport mode on the current Jetta 6 speed automatic (non DSG) which my wife drives. Downshifts at part throttle much quicker, holds gears longer even at part throttle, and the car seems much more responsive in D. Very happy with the result. I may try the old style tip programming mod after I get used to this.

Mine is coded 1011 but I am UK based. I'd try 1012 but that only kills the new style of shift for the tiptronic mode.

From what I have seen most cars already have the DSP disabled (Inactive) set at position 3.

If DSP is active on a US car I would expect to see 1102.

I haven't re-activated DSP to see what it is like figuring that if the previous owner didn't like it then I probably won't either - you know perhaps I should try it ....

Till you get VAG-COM on it you won't know how yours is coded.

My code is 1102, What do I change it to for Sport Mode? 0112 if I read correctly?

Also had a fault code P0702. Control Module Malfunction or Module defective. No CEL however? So maybe it was still in memory from previous repair? I will clear it tonite and go for a drive to see if it comes back.

I changed mine to 01112. Both of your coding numbers only have 4 digits. The 0 in front counts as one of the digits. The fourth digit was changed from a 0 to a 1. I thought that the change made a huge improvement in part throttle response.
