I guess I did get a letter, at my old address.

Recalls make me feel warm and cozy. Still wondering when the big recall will get issued. Boy can hope right?

Ok so new question, anything good to have done with the coilpacks?

I got the letter too. But I have not had a coilpack failure yet? So are they going to fix them anyways? Even though mine haven't broke yet?

Got my letter a few days ago & I'm scheduled for an oil change at the dealer tomorrow. I'll keep give you an update to their actions on the recall.

Got my car back from the dealer today with eight brand new coil packs (latest "715 C" version), and eight brand new NGK BKR6EKUE spark plugs, all under recall ($0.00).

And new valve cover gaskets for both side including 8 seals for the sparkplugs, new gaskets and hardware for the upper manifold extensions, new gaskets for upper manifold, and for the cam sensors as well - all for my $100 deductible.

Are we supposed to be getting them replaced even if we don't have an issue with them yet?

I don't know if "we're supposed to be getting them", but I did!
Need to take my Service Advisor to lunch.
Makes me feel a little better knowing that I'm well taken care of in the ignition department.

I got a notice in the mail a couple of days ago about this service action. It was titled "Voluntary Emissions Service Action 28F3/P1 Ignition Coil Inspection/Replacement." It followed another notice I got mentioning that a recall was on its way. But this time it doesn't seem to mention that VW is doing a recall for these coil packs. Instead they want me to schedule a two-hour appointment to get the coils inspected. If they find faulty coils, they will be replaced.
If my car has no MIL and is running smoothly wouldn't be a waste of time?

The stealer replaced mine when it was in for an oil service. "Tested" and replaced all 8 & did the oil change in just over an hour.

My guess is that the dealer will replace all 8 coil packs.
Think about it - they get to bill it back to VoA for parts and book labor.
