I just picked up my first W8 in September after some half drunk construction worker ran a red light and wrote off my Passat 1.8T. I guess in a way I lucked out because with the money I got from insurance I managed to buy a 6-speed W8 with only 50K miles and still had a couple thousand to blow. I am absolutely loving this car.

Have you buy an after market warranty yet?

No but I've considered it. I'm just not sure if it's worth it or not.

Trust us. Its worth it. Get the most comprehensive and longest lasting warranty you can find/afford.

I've gone a year with only problems being motor mount failure. I didn't get an extended warranty because the quote I got through the dealership I work at was around$4,500, which on a car that I paid $8,000 for seems silly. I do my own service and usually if something fails, I "upgrade" to some higher performance part (which a warranty would not allow). If I didn't know how to work on a car I would be more likely to get one, but paying over half the price of the car for a warranty I may never use didn't seem logical to me.

If you've got the money, you might as well though. Just giving my reasoning behind NOT getting one.

Welcome! I hope for the best for you and that you love the car as much as most of us do! They're great cars (as long as they don't have problems).

Yeah, I love my W8 wagon. It big, comfortable, can carry a lot of things like an SUV, but still sporty and relatively quick. Although an extra 50hp would be nice.
