I'd be interested in a set of 4 Bilsteins if you get to just shocks.

"Strut" typically refers to the combination of coil and damper, the coil being the spring bit that actually suspends the car, while the damper (aka "shock absorber") is the piston assembly running through the centre of the spring that, in simplest terms, controls how fast the spring is allowed to compress and rebound. The damper has a "perch", sometimes adjustable using a threaded nut under the perch, to support the bottom of the spring. Hence also the term "coilover" - with the coil (spring) "over" the damper.

This type of setup is called a McPherson Strut, which also comprises the A-arm lower control arm into the design:

We really need to make a group buy happen... I want to drop the 8 this spring. CO's or a spring shock combo... either way, let's make this happen!

Wow, you revived this thread from the dead. Good luck either (a) actually finding a place (shox.com) that sells shocks and springs in a package; and (b) convincing them to do group buy pricing. I tried that last year and i didn't get far.

The best way to save money on suspension is to buy the springs and shocks as a package; it's more costly to buy them separately. I've also found a place for FK Coilovers - $999. I was quoted $758 shipped for H&R springs with Koni shocks through shox.com.

Tax refunds cannot get here soon enough -- I'm still waiting on 2 of my W-2's!!

I just finally dropped the cash on the infamous H&R/Bilstein setup at www.importrp.com.

It is getting a bit more difficult to find after market parts since I first got my W8...

I also got some PBR Axxis pads in addition to the suspension, and it was around $800 including shipping. I'm waiting for the parts to ship, but I hope to get everything installed on Friday.
