I've now got 31K miles on the car and the front brakes feel like they may need new pads. For those of you who have replaced your front pads how many miles did you go before replacement?

TIA

My history is as follows:

All pads replaced at 30,000 service

Front discs (due to wear) & pads replaced at 52,000 miles

Rear discs (due to wear) & pads replaced at 70,000 miles

Rear pads replaced at 87,000 miles

Front brake pads replaced at 89,700 miles

Front brake discs replaced (due to wear) at 100,000 miles
(not pads)

Rear brake pads due for replacement in 110,000 mile service (currently 75% worn at 108,000 miles).

Just had front pads replaced at 36000 miles, maybe a little premature but as I was taking the car abroad and aiming to cover a fair few miles felt reassured that the job was done.

I really need to check mine, It's been shouting at me to check pads for about 3 weeks now.

I had a quick look without taking the wheels of and they all looked ok. I'm going to remove the wheels this weekend and check them over properly.

Jeez Tom - I would think the MT6 would milk those brake pads for a few more miles than that?

I'm not a big fan of a lot of down shifting as pads are cheaper than a new clutch.

What's your favorite pad supplier these days?

Though I haven't done the W8 yet, I put EBC GreenStuff on my '03 4Motion.
I may go with RedStuff on the W8, or Axxis Ultimate.
I'm putting EBC UltiMax on the Murano this weekend - that's their OEM+ line (91.72 for front & rear, free shipping - W8 set is 87.01)
autopartswarehouse.com has good pricing, and they match online pricing.
Good source for NGK BKR6EKUE plugs too - though in a 10 pack.

Why the Ultimate vs. Deluxe? I'll probably just get them at www.stopshopanddrive.com since they are very close.

The plugs are a pain to find becasue if you just search by VW 4.0L you end up with the wrong NGK plugs. I can't remember where I got mine but the price was decent. Having to buy a 10 pack is just unfair. Or perhaps the Lambo 10 cyl fits in a W8?

I think the Ultimate pads were recommended by both Will and Ronnie "in the day".
Not sure about the Deluxe, per se.

I am running the ultimate pads and my brother (v6 4mo) is running the deluxe pads. I can't really talk about the difference because the brakes on the v6 are so much different up front.

I do know that the ultimates are incredible for cold braking and even better hot braking. I used the car on auto-x and bedded in the brakes with 10 stops from 60 and 3 from 80 (I couldn't justify doing the recommended 120 on the street) and could never get the pads to fad or stop any longer.

The deluxe pads are much better than the stock pads for my brothers car. It seems like they don't dust as much, but his brakes will never dust as much as mine any way. I bedded in his brakes and couldn't get them to stop any longer either.

That being said, I tried to bed in my brothers stock pads and after 7 stops from 50 to 0 the stopping distance doubled for the 8th stop. It was really scarry actually.

I am also using better brake fluid. When I have time I order ATE Type 200, its the same stuff as the superblue but without the blue color.   Yesterday I put Vavoline synthetic and I have run this fluid before and honestly I can't tell the difference between the ATE and the vavoline.
