Does anyone know how to remove the wood trim that surrounds the window switch?

I do not but I purchased the bentley repair manual so I will check that when I get it and let you know.

It's actually quite easy, I just did it over the weekend.

Start by removing the handle insert from the door handle. The insert is the rounded part in the door pull with the circular indentations in it. It is easy to separate from the door handle with a flat blade screwdriver. Once the insert is out, you can just pull the trim and switches all out as one assembly.

Take a look at this page, which contains an excellent writeup of repairing the driver's door latch:

Driver's door latch removal and replacement

There are a series of images on right side the page and the second image down shows removal of the door handle insert.

Hope this helps!
