Check out www.powerchips.ch

18 years tuning experience, all chips use the original bosch motronic software as a base. Apparently the chips are non-detectable by service diagnostic machines.

claimed gains: 294 hp, 422nm torque (sorry i don't do foot-pounds), and of course, no top speed limiter.

They're pricey at around 1000 francs (now, thanks to a certain administration about the same in dollars) but come with a 10 year warranty. In my opinion, one of the best products out there.

installation here costs around 40 bucks, but i would assume that all chips are installed in much the same way, and to the same ports in the ECU...

FYI... N-m can be converted to pounds-feet by multiplying by 0.7376

Therefore, 422 N-m is roughly 311 lb-ft.

Most chips are actually "flash" loaded through the OBDII port now.
That's how my GIAC was done in my W8, and I have the handheld flashloader to toggle between "pump" for 91-93 octane, "race" for 100+ octane, and "stock" mode. Flashloader hooks into the OBDII port as well.

The flash loader is certainly a nice feature. I would really like to have the "valet" profile.

I think I'dd like the flash loader, too. More flexibilty and ease of changing programs. Matrix Integrated quoted $700? Can't remember....

Unless pricing has changed, here is what I was charged in 10/2006:
"pump" performance file for 91-93 octane 595.00 (on par w/8 cyl. Audi)
"race" file for 100+ octane 100.00 (nice, but 100 octane is 5.998/gal)
"stock" file 50.00 (just in case for warranty trips)
Handheld Flashloader 150.00

At one time they offered flashloading thru laptop, but I don't know if they still do or not.
FYI - Matrix Integrated worked with GIAC to develop the W8 "pump" file.
GIACs website dynograph was done by Matrix, in fact.
(Matrix also developed a prototype W8 CAI that never saw production - at one time they were trying to get EvoMS to pick it up. They haven't).
