At last after 4months 4 days I collected my W8 from my dealer. So quiet, smooth and just fantastic to have the car back.a gleaming new engine in the power bay.
It was going so well, being carefully driven for at least the next 1000/1500 kilometres
Then b****r me mis firing!
Yes, yet another fuel injector mis behaving. Back in the garage being fixed.

Should be back with me on Monday.....I hope!.

Back home! Driving as smooth as silk. It's been a long haul, but so worth it in the end. Thank goodness for extended warranty. Final bill was £15,000 this after a hefty discount for parts and labour, new engine was £10k.

Now going to get an aftermarket DAB radio fitted. Having had a courtesy car with DAB I realise how out of date my audio system is now . Wonder how much to get the defunct TV up and running again?

Glad you were able to salvage the car. How many miles did you have on the old engine, and what exactly went wrong?

Good Afternoon orangeoakie
Apologies for not replying earlier, some sort of holiday has interrupted the usual routine of life!
The old engine had only done 81998 miles so a real blow when I was told it was finished.
Not completely sure of the reason for it’s demise, something to do with total loss of compression.
It was in the dealers for 4 months as a replacement new engine had to be sourced from somewhere in the World.
Not a ‘Part’ every VW dealer would have on its parts stock list!!
So far so good, let’s hope the gearbox lasts as long as the new engine!

A very happy new year to you and yours

You will have to wait a bit longer than here for 2018. 15.30 here now in the Uk
Thanks for your interest.

Wow, £15,000 ($20,250) for a car valued at $6,500. The U.S. warranty companies would never go for that, maybe replace the car if you're lucky but here we just scrap them. Have a look at my stereo with Apple CarPlay (works with Android Auto too) if you'd like something modern.
