Hey Wassup w8ers
Started trying to get my A/C working since it's summer time and I would like to drive my Black on Black w8 without roasting too much. Here's what i go so far: 1. A/C wasn't working 2. A/C was seized or spinning (i forget but it's the worst of the two meaning it's finished) 3. Air Dryer was full of water 4. Replaced with a used A/C & used Air Dryer 5. Recharged and was working 6. Week later (parked) blowing hot 7. Mechanic diagnosed first thought it was the High Pressure Valve 8. Replaced High Pressure Vale - still not fixed (but covered under extended warranty) 9. Next idea was to replace A/C compressor (sadly denied) 10. Bought a brand new OE A/C and air dryer 11. Installed but now doesn't turn on? 12. Current issue is a ground lead (quoting from bad memory from mechanic) 13. Roughly understood is it works under a manual switch but not automatically via climatronic Any input guys and gals? |

I can't help with an answer but I have input; mine did 1, 5, 6 and 7. I didn't do 8 but instead brought it to the dealer, they said that being low on freon can cause a false code for the high pressure value, so you may have changed that part for no reason, they charged my system and that code went away. They didn't find any leaks and it's been working since. There's also a guy in the W8 Facebook Group that fought his A/C repairs himself and just messed things up more. My advice, bring it to the dealership.

Update Alert:
1. A/C not working still 2. Replaced the Condenser to see if it's a mechanical part to no avail 3. Me & my mechanic are stupped 4. He's going to reach out to an engineer back he know from the factory floor (Germany I assume) 5. Only idea we came up with is comparing a working W8 to mine but not sure if their are any locally to NYC. |

Compressor couldn't have been seized. They run full time, and have a control valve in the back that regulates pressure/bypass. It would have thrown the belt of the compressed locked up.
Did you check pressures hi/low with it engaged? Do the fans come on when you engage it? Have you checked the output to the compressor to see if there is a duty cycle present? The system is not rocket science. Just have to work through the problem. |

Correction:
1. Compressor bearing had failed and was squeaking Clarification: 1. Where me and my mechanic stopped at was that he can jump and force the compressor on but it's just backing up pressure and the fan isn't turning on with the A/C on. |

No you can't "jump" the compressor on this car, in fact you can damaged the RCV (refrigerant circulation valve) in doing so.
Sounds like the ECU isn't engaging it. Check the thrust sensor with vagcom - maybe it thinks the system is low from a faulty reading. Edited by Uberhare - 22-Jun-2018 at 04:27 |

Might have jumped the high pressure valve. The result was cold air in the cabin but the methodology of it's execution.
I can gladly ask any questions and ideas you may bring to this topic Bear with me I understand in theory what he has done but I wasn't actually there. Oddly though my engine bay I on the hotter side, says within operating temperatures no problem (recent thermostat replacement) but ambient temperatures are off by about 10°F |

see edit above. ECU will also show if it is commanded on I believe.
