I just spent Saturday morning cleaning my W8... And there are parts that I forget to get at, until I've put everything away... so here's my list (so far)

Exterior

1. The rear truck lift (above the license plate, where the trunk lock is)

Interior

1. The rear deck.
2. The roof (I keep forgetting the coffee that somehow got on the roof, probably when I hit a bump one day)
3. The glove compartment!
4. The rear centre armrest

What do you forget until it's too late?

Before it's too late for what?

I don't think I've ever really cleaned a glovebox, aside from just organizing and throwing out crap I don't need in there...
Props to you for doing such a thorough job!

Yes water spots on the mirrors, always forget that.

Also the inside of the windscreen, seems to get greasy on every car I've had, a real pain when you go out at night. Do VW dealers generally clean that at services? When I had a BMW they didn't even when I asked them to but at the Audi garage (my wife's A2) they did without even asking.

Maybe not detailing but while I remove my snow tires and but on the summer tires I try to hose out all the suspension parts to remove all of the salt and sand collected from the winter.

Good one B5crazy! I should do that... probably a lot of crud in there after the winter we've had in Toronto.

easy to forget is the roof.
the way vw connects bodyparts there is on both sides a 1cm deep space ,which collects dirt and stays moist for a long time.
it is filled with a plastic strip.
you have to pull this strip out, clean the inside, check it etc.
