why does my ambient temp display consistantly read 10-12 degrees higher than it should? my dealership said it read normal, but that's BS. my previous VWs (and wife's B6) are only within a couple of degrees of what i hear on the local weather reports.

So everyone's temp sensor reads correctly (or close enough)? Based on the lack of responses, I will make the assumption that something in my ambient sensor system has failed.

Does your Climatronic display the same temp as the FIS (center cluster)?

yes, and that's the main reason why i'm annoyed with it. it is difficult to keep the car comfortable inside when the computer thinks it is much warmer outside than it really is

Actually, mine has kind of the same problem ... but not 10-12 degrees ... Celcius, anyway.

Don't know how much it is off in Fahrenheit, but it's typically 2-3 degrees higher in celcius than other outdoor thermometers. Always thought it was engine heat tricking it into believing it's hotter than it actually is.

And always thought that it had to take a lousy couple of engineers to place the sensor where it would be affected by the cars temperature...

Do any of you have a VAG-COM? I wonder if any errors are reported.

Also, there is a long list of diagnostic "tricks" that can be done with the Climatronic - I wonder if any could be related to calibration of the outside temperature sensor?
